School-based Mental Health Screening Grant (SBMHSG)

Overview

During the 2020 Utah State Legislature session, House Bill (H.B.) 323: School Mental Health Funding Amendments was sponsored by Representative Steve Eliason and Senator Ann Millner. This bill sets standards for participating LEAs to implement approved Mental Health Screening Programs for students. The application is required for all LEAs who are conducting mental health screenings in any form. USBE, in consultation with the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH) has compiled a list of evidence-based screening tools, and completed a list of mental health conditions for which to screen that has been approved by the board.

The Notification of Intent to Utilize Mental Health Screeners form is required to apply for this grant. For details and resources visit the SBMH Screening Program tab.
