School-based Mental Health Screening Grant (SBMHSG)

During the 2020 General Session, the Utah State Legislature passed House Bill (H.B.) 323: School Mental Health Funding Amendments, which set standards for Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to implement approved mental health screening programs for students. The legislature appropriated an ongoing amount of $500,000 for the program. The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) Administrative Rules created R277-625: Mental Health Screeners to create a process for a qualifying parent to receive reimbursement from the LEA for needed mental health treatment for the parent’s student, based on the results of the mental health screening. The USBE Administrative Rule also clarifies what factors constitute a qualifying parent.

The Notification of Intent to Utilize Mental Health Screeners form is required to apply for this grant. The deadline to submit the Notification of Intent form has ended for the 2022-2023 school year.
