James Moss

Biography
Jim Moss grew up in Orem, Utah. He graduated from Brigham Young University in Political Science, and then from BYU Law School where he worked in the Civil Rights Division of the Utah Attorney General’s Office. He met his wife, Lindsay, at BYU and moved to Los Angeles after graduation, where he began his legal career. He also obtained a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree from the University of Southern California.
Jim has practiced law for the last twenty years with Payne & Fears LLP, a regional law firm based in California. He chairs the firm’s Salt Lake City office, specializing in employment litigation, counseling and business litigation.
Jim has served on the Utah State Charter School Board, the Wasatch High School Community Council, and the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce Education Committee. He has also been involved in the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, a worldwide attorney service organization, as Leadership Development Chair and Service Chair. He has tutored ELL elementary students through the HOSTS program in Santa Ana, California, and taught American jurisprudence to law students in Ukraine through the Leavitt Institute.
Jim and his wife and family now live in Midway, where their five children have all attended Wasatch County’s public schools. They love skiing at Sundance, mountain biking and traveling.
