The Elementary School Counselor Grant Program was created in accordance with the following regulations:

R277-461: Elementary School Counselor Grant Program
Utah State Board of Education Administrative Rules
This grant program awards grants to an Local Education Agency (LEA) to provide targeted school-based mental health support in elementary school, including trauma-informed care, through employment of qualifying personnel.
Application
The next grant application cycle will be initiated during the 2023-2024 school year.

This program awards grants to the Local Education Agency (LEA) to provide scholarships to paraprofessionals, school counselor assistants, and school counselor interns for education and training to become licensed teachers or licensed school counselors.

LEAs awarded Cohort 3 funding will be required to provide an Accountability Report confirming their Cohort 3 program candidate and mentor information. The report includes information for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 and 2025.
