Overview
The Juvenile Gang Prevention Grant, formerly known as the Gang Prevention and Intervention Program, is no longer available as a competitive grant. During the 2024 General Legislative Session, ongoing funding for the program was reallocated to support a per-student weighting increase for the Students At-Risk WPU Program in the Basic School Program. LEAs with gang prevention needs should consult internally with the leadership to determine whether WPU at-risk add-on funds may be available to address these needs.

LEAs should be aware that the requirements outlined in Utah Code Section 53F-2-410 and the Utah State Board of Education Administrative Rule R277-436, Gang Prevention and Intervention Programs in the Schools, remains in place.
