21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC) Grant

The 21st CCLC Program is a competitive federal grant for local education agencies (LEAs) and community or faith-based organizations (CFBOs) to serve students and their families attending schools with poverty levels of 40 percent or higher outside of regular school hours.

APEX Grant Program

The APEX Grant Program, created by Utah's H.B. 447, establishes a grant program to help LEAs create or expand profession-based learning centers that are aligned with labor market needs and drive student engagement.

 Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program

This legislative grant provides funds to local education agencies to hire qualified arts educators and coaches (visual art, music, dance, or theatre) who provide arts-integrated instruction in elementary schools.

Currently participating LEAs must submit an Intent to Participate document annually to the Utah State Board of Education (USBE). Non-participating LEAs and schools can complete a form indicating their interest in joining the program. Depending on their capacity to adhere to program requirements and the availability of legislative funding, they can apply for the BTS Arts program funding.

Child Sexual Abuse and Human Trafficking (CSA/HT) Alternative Provider Choice Grant

The Child Sexual Abuse and Human Trafficking Alternative Provider Choice Grant provides funds to support LEAs who would like to use an approved organization other than the state contracted provider, Prevent Child Abuse Utah, to deliver CSA/HT prevention instruction to elementary students.

Digital Teaching and Learning Grant Program

The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) Digital Teaching and Learning (DTL) Grant Program provides funds to Utah schools for technology-powered learning, guided by Utah Code 53F-2-510 and USBE Board Rule R277-922.

Early Interactive Software Program (EISP)

The Early Interactive Software Program (EISP) grant provides literacy software licenses for K-3 students. The grant reimburses LEAs when they purchase interactive literacy software that meets the grant requirements.

Education Innovation Program

Under House Bill 386: Education Innovation Program (Utah State Legislature), individual classrooms can apply to their LEA to approve an alternative classroom schedule or alternative curriculum and award up to $5,000 per class for the school year. All approvals are done at the local level, however; ULEAD can assist in developing a monitoring plan and collects evidence concerning the innovation after the class is complete. ULEAD can assist those applying to their LEA to formulate their plan, can advise on monitoring components, and serves as a pass through for approved plans from the LEA to access the financial awards.

High School Rodeo Athlete and Ambulance Grants

The High School Rodeo Athlete and Ambulance Grants support Utah's top high school rodeo athletes with stall and entry fees for the National High School Finals Rodeo. It also ensures ambulance coverage with paramedics or advanced EMTs at all Utah High School Rodeo Association events.

Mentoring and Supporting Teacher Effectiveness and Refinement (MASTER) Pilot Grant

This is a two-year competitive grant given to LEAs to support MASTER drafted in the 2024 legislative session (House Bill 431).

Neglected and Delinquent Transitional Services

This federal grant is used to support the educational and transitional services for students that reside in a Juvenile Justice and Youth Services facility.

Personalized Competency Based Learning Grant

The Utah Legislature (53F-5-502) has created a Personalized Competency-Based Learning (PCBL) Grant Program to support LEAs in their efforts to plan, implement, scale, and expand their personalized learning and competency-based education initiatives. This program awards recipient LEAs five years’ worth of funding (provided all grant expectations are met). PCBL Grant applicants complete the application to enter into the grant system. Afterwards, all Planning Grantees will have the opportunity to apply for four additional years of funding to carry out their plan (two years of implementation and two more years of expansion).

Prevention Block Grant

Grants are awarded every two years as part of a two-year funding cycle to support tier 1 and tier 2 prevention activities. These funds may be used to implement a comprehensive prevention plan in alignment with Utah Code 53F-2-525.

School-Based Mental Health Qualifying Grant Program (SBMHQGP)

During the 2019 Utah State Legislature session, House Bill 373: Student Support Amendments authorized the Utah State Board of Education to distribute money appropriated under this section to LEAs to provide targeted school-based mental health support.

School-Based Mental Health Screening Grant (SBMHSG)

Utah Code Section 53F-2-522 sets standards for local education agencies to implement approved mental health screening programs for students. Board Rule R277-625: Mental Health Screeners creates a process for a qualifying parent to receive reimbursement from the LEA for needed mental health treatment for the parent’s student, based on the results of the mental health screening. The Board Rule also clarifies what factors constitute a qualifying parent.

STEM Endorsement Incentive Program (EIP)

The STEM Endorsement Incentive Program incentivizes educators across the state to achieve endorsements in the STEM subjects by providing reimbursement for applicable STEM endorsement coursework.

Teacher Student Success Act/Program (TSSA) Grant

The purpose of the Teacher Student Success Act/Program (TSSA) Grant provides funds to all LEAs to improve school performance or student academic achievement. The program is guided by Utah Code 53F-2-416, Utah Code 53G-5-1301-1306, and USBE Board Rule R277-927. LEAs apply for the funds by submitting an LEA adopted/approved student success framework and local board meetings that show when the framework was approved each year in Utah Grants.

The Youth in Care grant is used to fund educational services for students in the state's care.
