American Indian/Alaskan Native Education Amendments

State Education Amendment

In 2020, the Utah State Legislature passed Senate Bill 124: American Indian and Alaska Native Education Amendments (sponsored by Senator David P. Hinkins and Representative Christine F. Watkins), which received an appropriation of $362,500.00 annually to fund stipends for teachers, recruitment and retention of teachers, and professional development for whose who teach in American Indian and Alaska Native concentrated schools. Those school districts who receive the funding report to the Native American Legislative Liaison Committee annually.
