STEM Institute
The STEM Institute's purpose has been to empower local communities to engage in systemic
change efforts related to their vision of STEM Education. Teams from a site (i.e.
administration, content specialists, coaches, classroom teachers) attend as a collaborative
group. The Institute focuses on each team developing a vision for STEM education,
creating an action plan to attain that vision, and coaching schools/LEAs through implementation
of their plan. Facilitators of sessions include national presenters, Utah State Board
of Education staff, LEA administrators and content specialists, school principals,
and others from the STEM community such as the STEM Action Center and iSEE organizations.
To better meet the evolving needs of our stakeholders, the STEM Institute is currently
undergoing a comprehensive revision. This initiative is designed to improve coherence
and provide high-quality resources for Utah elementary teachers. The new institute
will also serve as a central hub for our other professional learning groups, ensuring
a consistent and effective approach to STEM education across the state.

Grants
STEM Endorsement Incentive Program (EIP)
The STEM EIP was created in July of 2019 to incentivize educators across the state
to achieve endorsements in the STEM subjects. The Utah State Board of Education (USBE)
will be using these funds to provide reimbursement for applicable STEM endorsement
coursework for both elementary and secondary educators. For more information, please
refer to the STEM Endorsement Incentive Program Frequently Asked Question (FAQ).
Please contact Isaac Pitcher at isaac.pitcher@schools.utah.gov if you have questions about the STEM EIP Program
Informal Science Education Enhancement (iSEE)
Informal Science Education Enhancement (iSEE) is a collaborative partnership between Clark Planetarium, Discovery Gateway, The
Leonardo, The Living Planet Aquarium, Red Butte Garden, Natural History Museum of
Utah, HawkWatch International, Thanksgiving Point, Utah State University Extension
Bastian, and the Utah State Board of Education.
iSEE programs serve K-12 teachers and students and are designed to spark students'
natural curiosity and sense of wonder by providing exciting opportunities to experience
science, practice science skills, and gain a deeper understanding of science.
The How to become an iSEE member document outlines the process involved for an organization to become a member of iSEE.
