Related Instruction Provider

In the U-RAPT program, a related instruction provider is a college or university that partners with the program to provide the academic coursework apprentices need to complete their bachelor's degree. Think of them as the academic backbone of the program.

What Related Instruction Provider Do

  • Provide coursework: They offer courses that align with the apprentice's chosen teaching area and meet the requirements for a bachelor's degree in education.
  • Develop learning plans: They work with the U-RAPT and the apprentice to create an Individual Professional Learning Plan (IPLP) that outlines the required coursework.
  • Award credit for experience: Related instruction providers may offer college credit for the skills and knowledge apprentices gain through their on-the-job training, potentially shortening the time it takes to complete their degree.
  • Support apprentice learning: They provide academic advising, tutoring, and other support services to help apprentices succeed in their coursework.
  • Monitor progress: They track apprentice progress in their courses and communicate with the U-RAPT program about any concerns.

Essentially, related instruction providers ensure that apprentices receive the theoretical knowledge and academic training necessary to complement their practical experience in the classroom. They are key partners in preparing apprentices for a successful teaching career.
