Employer Partner

Employer Partner

In the U-RAPT program, an employer partner is a crucial player in this employer-driven program. It's the organization that hires and employs the apprentices, providing them with the real-world classroom experience they need to become teachers.

What Employer Partners do:

  • Hire apprentices: They post open apprentice positions, interview candidates, and select individuals who are a good fit for the program and their school.
  • Provide mentorship: They assign each apprentice to a Mentor Journeyworker Teacher in their school who will guide and supervise the apprentice's on-the-job learning.
  • Compensate apprentices: Employer partners will pay apprentices a competitive wage, with the U-RAPT program reimbursing them for a portion of these costs.
  • Support apprentice development: They create a supportive work environment where apprentices can learn and grow, and they collaborate with the U-RAPT program to monitor apprentice progress.
  • Maintain program compliance: They adhere to equal opportunity guidelines and ensure a safe and inclusive workplace for apprentices.

Essentially, employer partners are the schools or districts that make the U-RAPT program possible by providing access to classrooms with qualified journeyworkers where both pre-apprentices and apprentices can develop their skills and work towards licensure. They are vital partners in creating a pipeline of qualified teachers for Utah.
