Afterschool Snack Program (ASP)
The Afterschool Snack Program (ASP) helps schools participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provide nutritious snacks to children attending eligible afterschool activities. Federal reimbursement helps support programs that offer a safe, supervised environment with educational or enrichment opportunities beyond the school day.

To participate in ASP, a school must:
- Participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
- Offer a regularly scheduled afterschool program.
- Provide educational or enrichment activities in a supervised setting.
ASP sites may qualify as either:
Area Eligible Sites
- Snacks are provided at no charge to all participating children.
- Sponsors receive the free reimbursement rate for all eligible snacks served.
Non-Area Eligible Sites
- Reimbursement is based on each child's free, reduced-price, or paid eligibility status.
- Households may need to submit a free and reduced-price meal application if eligibility is not already on file.
How to Apply
To apply to participate in ASP, a school must complete the ASP Amendment and required sponsor and site applications in the Child Nutrition Programs application system. Applications are reviewed and approved by USBE Child Nutrition Programs before participation may begin.

Claims
Reimbursement claims are due monthly using the approved USBE Child Nutrition Programs software system.
For monthly due dates, visit USBE's Financial Operations Utah Grants webpage, select Utah Grants Resources, select the Grant Reimbursement Schedule for the correct School Fiscal Year (SFY).
If claims are not submitted by the Grant Reimbursement Schedule, they must be submitted within 60 days after the claimed month to be considered for reimbursement.
