What: In the Fall of 2025, the Utah State Board of Education authorized the review of the
Utah Effective Leadership Standards. A writing committee, including representatives
from most stakeholder groups, has drafted these leadership standards and now asks
for your feedback. The writing committee will make necessary revisions to the draft
standards based on public feedback. The draft leadership standards will then be presented
to the State Board for consideration for approval.
Please note that the standards will be supported with detailed competencies, updated
model leadership evaluations, leadership toolkits, and professional learning - all
to be developed once the leadership standards are approved by the state board.
Who: LEA Heads (Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents, Charter Heads and Directors)
When: Please provide feedback before May 15, 2026.
