What is the Oversight Framework?

In 2024, the Utah State Board of Education passed Rule R277-111, Board Oversight Framework. The rule creates a spectrum of categories that range from minimum Board oversight to significant oversight. By July 31, 2029, the Board will categorize all public education administrative rules into these oversight categories.

Rule R277-114, Response to Compliance and Related Issues, applies the framework to compliance concerns by determining resolution options (including corrective action) according to rule category.
