Description

Purpose

The purpose of this interagency agreement between the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) and Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) is to provide additional clarification regarding the role of the DPS School Safety Liaison with the USBE School Safety Center (SSC). This includes professional learning and support for Local Education Agencies (LEAs).

Legal Authority

34 CFR § 99.31, 34 CFR § 99.36, and 20 U.S. Code § 1232g(b). This data sharing is permitted under the “Health and Safety Emergency Exception” of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
