Description

Purpose

The purpose of this interagency agreement between the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) and United Way of Salt Lake City (UWSL) is to formalize a partnership that allows for the sharing of educational records so UWSL can support and improve student outcomes across multiple school districts using data-driven practices, while ensuring compliance with legal and privacy standards.

Legal Authority

34 CFR § 99.31(a)(3), 34 CFR § 99.35, 20 U.S. Code § 1232g(b). This data sharing is permitted under the “Audit and Evaluation Exception” of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
