Description

Purpose

The purpose of this data sharing agreement between the Utah State Board of Education and the Utah Department of Health is to streamline the required reporting of COVID-19 cases among schools (school health authorities) and the Utah Department of Health.

Legal Authority

34 CFR § 99.31, 34 CFR § 99.36, and 20 U.S. Code § 1232g(b). This data sharing is permitted under the “Health and Safety Emergency Exception” of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
