Utah Code 53E-4-307
Requires the State Board of Education to contract for a benchmark reading assessment
system for students in kindergarten through grade 6, prioritizing grades K-3 if funding
is limited. This code also requires school districts or charter schools to administer
diagnostic assessments if a benchmark or supplemental assessment indicates a student
needs additional support.
Utah Code R277-406
Designates Acadience Reading as a state-mandated assessment for students in kindergarten
through grade three, used to evaluate early literacy skills and identify students
needing support.
Early Literacy Outcomes Improvement (S.B. 127)
passed in 2022, supports improving K-3 reading achievement through various means,
including diagnostic assessments.
