School Social Work Evaluation Program Grant (SSWEPG)

Overview

The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) shall distribute money to local education agencies (LEAs) through a competitive grant to implement a pilot program for the evaluation of School Social Workers (SSWs). Data from this pilot program will assist in the development of Utah’s evaluation model for SSWs, which will be based on the School Social Worker Association of America (SSWAA) model.

Awarded LEAs will receive funds to compensate the evaluators who are assigned to complete evaluations and the SSWs being evaluated. All components of the evaluation must be completed outside participants' contract hours and in addition to current job requirements. Each evaluator will be permitted to evaluate no more than ten SSWs, completing at least two evaluations per year (pre and post) per SSW. LEAs may utilize multiple evaluators to allow for the evaluation of more SSWs.

Application Cycle

LEAs interested in participating in the School Social Work Evaluation Program must complete and submit an application, to be approved by USBE.
