Skilled & Technical Sciences Education LogoMinimum Endorsement Requirements

  • Existing CTE/APP, CTE, or Secondary Education License, and
  • Manufacturing engineering degree or technology education degree and *two (2) years of full-time machining work experience, or
  • An associate’s degree in machining/CNC and *four (4) years of full-time machining work experience, or
  • *Six (6) years or more of full-time machining work experience.

*Note: Verification of passing scores on the NOCTI precision machining teacher assessment can be used in place of work experience.

Minimum SAEP Requirements

  • Existing CTE/APP, CTE, or Secondary Education License, and
  • An assignment that requires the requested endorsement, and
  • Transcripts showing a minimum of nine (9) semester hours of completed course work related to the requested endorsement, and
  • Two (2) years of related work experience, or
  • Successful completion of the NOCTI precision machining teacher assessment.  Verification of passing scores on the examination is required before the endorsement can be awarded.

Note: A plan must be submitted to and approved by the state specialist outlining all requirements and when/where they will be (or have been) fulfilled.     

The Machinist Technician/CNC Endorsement allows an educator to teach the following courses:

  • Machinist Technician/CNC
  • Materials and Processes
  • Computer Integrated Manufacturing - PLTW

Complete the following to apply for a Skilled & Technical Sciences Education Endorsement or SAEP:

  • Download the application form.
  • Fill out the form, including university/college course numbers, work experience and industry certifications, to indicate that minimum requirements in each area have been met. 
  • Indicate whether you are applying for an endorsement or a SAEP.
  • Attach a copy of your transcripts and highlight corresponding classes.
  • Attach copies of letters to verify employment.
  • Attach copies of test scores, current professional licenses or other documentation requested by the state specialist.
  • Do not send letters of reference or resumes.
  • Send the transcripts, professional certifications, and completed form, along with the appropriate processing fee to:
