Educator Licensing - Secondary Keyboarding
Secondary Keyboarding

Minimum Endorsement Requirements
- Existing Middle or Secondary Education License, and
- Transcripts showing ten (10) semester credits completed from the required and/or elective course lists. See below.
Minimum SAEP Requirements
- Existing Middle or Secondary Education License, and
- An assignment that requires the requested endorsement, and
- Transcripts showing a minimum of five (5) semester hours of completed course work related to the requested endorsement, and
- A plan submitted to and approved by the State Specialist outlining all requirements and when/where they will be (or have been) fulfilled.
Required Courses
Candidates must complete at least two semester credits of keyboarding methodology.
- SUU – Teaching Office/Computer Information Subjects (BE 4950) - 2-5 credits
- WSU – Methods of Teaching Business/Marketing Education (TBE 3610) - 2-5 credits
- UVU – Methods of Teaching Keyboarding and Computer Apps (BUS 4200) - 2-5 credits
- USOE-sponsored Secondary Keyboarding Methods - by permission only
- Word Processing - 1 credit
Elective Courses
- Data Processing Software
- Desktop Publishing Software
- Digital Media/Graphics/Photo Editing
- Internet/Web Creation
- Presentations Software
- Other courses may qualify but require pre-approval by the USOE business education specialist
The Secondary Keyboarding Endorsement allows an educator to teach the following courses:
- Keyboarding I
- Keyboarding Applications
