Teaching Incentive Loan (TIL)

The TIL loan application for 2015-2016 will be available to graduating high school seniors starting January 2015. The TIL Loan Application packet is due at the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) on or before 5 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015.

The TIL is funded by the Utah State Legislature. TIL recipients are required to pursue an educator preparation program, obtain educator licensing, and then teach in Utah public schools for a period equal to the time they received assistance. To qualify for a Utah Educator License, a recipient must receive a cleared background/fingerprint check at the time of licensing and have a visa or citizenship status that will allow the recipient to be employed in the United States.  The TIL consists of a waiver (of tuition and fees at the Utah public institutions and $995.00 per semester at private institutions) to be used for a period not exceeding 8 semesters. The program is jointly administered by the Utah State Board of Education (USOE) and the State Board of Regents.
