Educator License 1) Secondary Education License The Secondary Education License is issued to individuals who complete a university teacher education preparation program. A teacher who qualifies for a secondary license may be endorsed to teach FACS courses/programs through demonstrated competency. An Career and Technical Education (CTE) License is awarded upon successful completion of the requirements identified in Section III License Levels. An Career and Technical Education - Alternative Preparation Program (CTE - APP) License may be issued to individuals who DO NOT have a Secondary Education License but qualify through a combination of post secondary courses/degrees and/or work experience related to family and consumer sciences. Individuals may qualify for an CTE - APP Level 1 License by meeting one of the following criteria: 1) Documented evidence of a related bachelor's degree
and two years of related work II. CTE License Limitations III. License Levels Level 1 Licenses are entry-level licenses that are issued for three years only. Level 1 Licenses may be extended, only if progresses toward the requirements have been made and additional time is needed. To advance from a Secondary Level 1 License to

credits 2) Complete the Licensure Course Requirements – 15
college credits 3) Complete the FACS Endorsement Requirements 4) Complete the Entry Years Enhancements (EYE)
for Quality Teaching Program An applicant who holds a bachelor's degree will also obtain a Secondary Education License at the moment they have completed the requirements to move from a CTE APP Level 1 License to an CTE Level 2 License. Level 2 Licenses are valid for five (5) years unless revoked for cause by the Utah State Board of Education. They must be renewed by compliance with the current Standards and Guidelines for Revalidation and Renewal of Licenses http://www.usoe.k12.ut.us/cert/require/renewal/renewal.htm Level 3 Licenses are valid for seven years and issued to teachers who hold a current Level 2 License and have also received, in the educator's field of practice, national board certification or a doctorate from an accredited institution. IV. Application Process for an CTE APP Level 1 License and/or FACS Endorsements 1) Complete the Application for Career and Technical Education - Family and Consumer Sciences Education, being sure to provide: - Official evidence verifying
the degree earned and/or courses completed. 2) Submit the application to: If recommended, the applicant must pay the associated fees.
