Utah adopted the integrated mathematics model. This model is used throughout the world and provides students with the opportunity to learn and use topics in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and analysis in connected and relevant ways; it promotes a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. Because Utah is one of the first states to move to this research-based, effective method of instruction, textbook publishers were not motivated to prepare materials to support instruction. The Mathematics Vision Project was instituted to address this need.
