The CTE Intro course is to be taught by a team of teachers with appropriate license and endorsements. Three Career and Technical Education (CTE) classroom teachers, with appropriate license and endorsements, should be assigned to team teach this year-long (180 days) course.CTE Introduction also requires support and classroom interaction with a school counselor and, where available, a Work-Based Learning coordinator.
Note: Because CTE Intro is a core curriculum requirement, a teacher must have an Elementary Education, Middle School or Secondary Education License with the appropriate endorsement. A CTE License will not meet this requirement.
General CTE Endorsements: Grades 7-12
The following CTE endorsements qualify Secondary Education License teachers to be on the CTE Introduction teacher team:
- Agriculture (CTE/General)
- Business and Marketing (CTE/General)
- Family and Consumer Sciences Education (CTE/General)
- Intro to Health Science Science/Health Technology or Medical Anatomy & Physiology
- Technology and Engineering Education (CTE /General)
A teacher is then qualified to teach the corresponding CTE content component. It is recommended that collectively the CTE Introduction team teachers have at least three of these endorsements.
Junior High/Middle School CTE Endorsements: Grades 6-8
Three middle/junior high school endorsements (listed below) are available to assist teachers in becoming qualified to teach CTE courses in grades 6-8 when a CTE-endorsed teacher is not available. These endorsements can only be given to teachers with an Elementary Education, Middle School or Secondary Education License.
